Welcome to My World!

I draw (Drawings by Maria Cristina) because my head is brimming with stories that I love to tell using pictures. My work may lack the discipline of a trained artist but it reflects the spontaneity of a child with a new box of crayons. My artwork is like me: informal, observant, reflective, eclectic, and amused. I prefer not to draw scenery but am sometimes inspired by it, especially now that I am living in southern New Mexico. I have always been intrigued by a Mexican holiday that optimistically accepts death as a continuation of life. Being human means being awkward, hence my Frogs , and yet religious faith compels me to the more serious task of researching and drawing Saints. Please check my New Works page often. Not only do I draw, I also create fantasy art using photographs. All in all, my artwork offers an escape from the more mundane aspects of life.

At the same time, I love to accept commission work for a variety of personal and professional requests. In 2008, I completed illustrations for a children's book written by a local author, and created a logo for the "Hi Society Pygmy Goat Club". I'll be glad to provide references.
